GTi doesn't have hill start assist.

Hmm, confusing ...
What year are your GTi's?
Mine is a 2015 and it says in the handbook it has HSA.
However, I notice on the Peugeot website that this years doesn't include it.

Mine is a 2015 pre face-lift and I've never noticed this. Does the prestige have it as standard?

The other halfs Mokka has it and it's handy pulling out of uphill side streets.

 

The handbook covers the full 208 range. Therefore, not everything in the manual is on all cars.
The best place to look, is in the specification sheets, on the Peugeot web site, which lists all models and what is on them.

exmgzr - good point. I've seen plenty of adverts though saying that it has HSA.
Bit odd how they tried to fix it before claiming it didn't have it ...

 

I don't think my Prestige (2016) has it.

I don't see the point of it, what's so hard about using the hand-brake?

 

I thought the same about automatic windscreen wipers, until I had them

 

My 2015 had it until I got a new harness fitted, then it had vanished. Dealership is giving me the same bs, saying it never existed.

 

For some reason I even thought my humble 1.2 Active had the hill start assist until I picked it up and tried it out. I'm sure the ad said it had it. But never mind, maybe next time.

 

I used to have a 1.2 special edition (2014) and it turned out then that the HSA was on S+S models only, which mine wasn't.

Now I have a 2016 GTi with S+S, that doesn't have HSA either. I tried it today just to check, and rolled back...

 

I have a new built on 1st march 2017 gti prestige, the brochure said no hill start assist, but today confirmed it working when the brake pedal went solid when I stopped on a hil, went to move off and the car was stationary until I hit the biting point,

 

Hill Start Assist is listed in the Manual as follows:

Operation
This system helps you move off on a slope, by holding your vehicle for around 2 seconds, the
time to move your foot from the brake pedal to the accelerator.


Operation
On an ascending slope with the vehicle stationary, the vehicle is held momentarily
when you release the brake pedal.

With a manual gearbox*, if you are in first gear or in neutral.
With an electronic gearbox, if you are in position A.
With an automatic gearbox, if you are in position D.

Operation
This system helps you move off on a slope, by holding your vehicle for around 2 seconds, the
time to move your foot from the brake pedal to the accelerator.

On a descending slope, with the vehicle stationary and reverse gear engaged, the
vehicle is held momentarily when you release the brake pedal.


The hill start assist system is active when:

<ul>[*]your foot on the brake pedal fully immobilises the vehicle,[*]when certain conditions of gradient are met,[*]the driver's door is closed.[/list]

The hill start assist system cannot be deactivated


!No one should leave the vehicle while it is being held in the hill start assist
phase. If you need to leave the vehicle while the engine is running, apply the parking
brake manually then ensure that the parking brake warning lamp is on (not
flashing) in the instrument panel.

* Depending on version.

 

The current Prestige doesn't come with Hill Assist. It only appears to be available on S&S engine models on Allure Premium spec and lower. Absent on GT Line and both GTis.

My 2016 facelift GTI prestige with s+s doesnt it

 

My new gti has Hill start assist, works both ways forwards and backwards depending on driving up a Hill or reversing backwards up a Hill.

I can confirm it definitely has it.
Car was ordered in May, built July and delivered in August and has s+s.

 

Anybody ever figured out which models have it? Mine doesn't have it and I would very much appreciate if someone can point me correct part number for working hill assist.

 

My 22 plate GT has it.
