Hi all

I have only owned this car since May 2020 and have had problems ever since I had a new High Pressure Fuel Pump, ECU Replaced and a Engine Rebuild.

all worked super for 2/3 weeks to find today I lost power just cruising. This actully happend in a roundabout in rush out in 2nd gear about 3k revs...

by turbo has blown.

Can someone kindly answer me how something like this can happen when there is a boost pipe connected to it the blades have broken only 1 blade is okay now when I drive above 2K it makes an aweful winging noise. Here’s a picture

The whining noise will be the turbo bearing probably.

Early GTi have had similar issues as you. Is yours the 200bhp model EP6CDTX?

The latter EP6FDTX 205bhp has some changes that rectified the problem you have just faced.

Not all engines suffer from this however.

Hi. No mines the 208 engine. It sounded like a boot leak at first until I seen the blades inside the turbo. I’m getting a new one fitted on Friday next week. Just weird how this has happend and only at 38,000 miles
