Hi Guys,

I've had my car since December and I've now started to look into remaps and other performance upgrades that can be done to the car. I just feel that the car could be a little bit more feisty, especially in the lower gears!

I have seen that some of you guys have had remaps done by AmD in Essex and as these guys are local to me it would be good to know your thoughts! Was it a big step forward? Does anyone recommend any other tuners?

I haven't made any other modifications to the car but have seen that most of you guys install a FMIC before remapping. Will I be able to get away without one of these or is it completely necessary? Would it also be worth upgrading to a GFB DV+?

I have also had a look at Comkotes induction kit. Would this provide me with a good performance upgrade without a remap? Or worth having a remap also?

Any advice or suggestions would be great guys! Just looking to make my car that little bit more special!

Ben, you just beat me to it.
I'm.in the same boat too. Got my PS gti and want a stage 1 remap for abit extra oomph.
I heard about Amd remap via a thread on herr but haven't seen much feedback on a stage 1 remap.
I have enquired with Celtic Tuning and they are claiming 235bhp 250ilbs torqpue on stage 1. Not sure wat there like tbh.
They come to yiur door.

I've got the induction kit and dump valve make a big improvement next is the exhaust and intercooler before a remap

Stage 1 is a great start,yep you need fmic as egt is very high. Also can do stage
1

The higher the stage the more mods are needed. Some have good power at lower rpm to make engine life better, others high power at high rpm, reliability and running costs should be in everyones planning. Stage 2 or above is not a daily driver car

What are the benefits of the dp valve?
Also I wasn't going to change ti.fmic as I hear that it adds more lag lower down rpm.
Is this true?

With a tmsr2 all fmic lag is eliminated actually it takes while to get use to how quickly the car wants to leap into action.

All mods have pros and cons, the driver always has to adjust, dont expect the car to. The car is just a machine, its driver will adapt to get the best out of it :)

Comkotes, didn't you get a remap from AmD? How did you find it?

What do you lot think of celtic tuning? I was thinking to go with them as they have remapped euro6 gti.
Figures seem reasonable.

Its always best to remap with the mods you want the map to work with.

A remap increases peak power through fuel and timing. A stage 1 remap with tmsr2 basically gives you stage 3 power and torque.

We have custom map essentially stage 3 by AMD. It takes a lot of mods to be able to manage stage 3. On continent just the parts+labour,remap is around 4.5k. Theres still the suspension+brakes+wheels+tyres+clutch+ignition to sort after that as car is unable to cope.

I agree Celtic tuning can remap euro6 , it sometimes takes a few goes. AMD also do euro 5 and 6.

They are probably referring to me! I had my Euro6 done by Celtic. I found them an excellent company to deal with. I haven't driven on the open road yet to comment on performance but had no errors or issues to report in urban driving. They show a chart for the Euro 5. Im hoping to have a dyno run done later this month.

I have booked mine in for later this month.
They are coming to me which is kinda incredible as I live in south.
I think my car has plenty of power for what it is, I remember on a previous gti I had I put the tdi tuning box and even that made a difference and I liked the useability of it then. So I'm hoping thatas this will be a remap it will yield better performance.

Stage 1 with fmic should net 239bhp(16 psi)
Stage 2 with fmic and large downpipe is 246bhp (18psi)

A TMSR2 makes 254+ on a stage 2 with fmic and largebore downpipe (21psi)

why does the TMSR2 kit unleash this much power?
I remember a video on a rcz r that actually loss power when they tried to use different kits on it.
Also do you have any more pics of the TMSR2 kit please?
I have only seen one pic of it in an engine, so not a lot to see!

Stage 1 remap(with fmic) is approx 236-239hp

Stage 1 remap(with fmic) + TMSR2 is close to 260hp



Why?

It is true most think bang a filter on, shorter pipe and bobs your uncle. It couldn't
be further from the truth. Some think colder air makes more power and that is only part of the story, we use F1 technology and know how to make more power.
It is the TMSR2 which is giving the extra psi from turbo, put simply when a car
has much better air going into the engine, fuelling is increased as the air is
better since the MAFcalculated that was so, more fuel is added and/or an engine makes a much better burn, that creates a
bigger bang in cylinders, engine makes more power, that goes down the exhaust
and since there is more exhaust gas and egt is not backing off the timing the
turbo does produce more boost. TMSR2 has to do a lot of work so this happens.

We generally see stage 2 and 3's running 340-365nm respectively

, A TMSR2 on stage 1 will run
370nm+, torque and power are directly related, it matters what you have left on
the power curves once max rpm is being reached to make more hp, on these cars
once 5000rpm and above is reached you need a full 0.5ft-lb of extra torque to
make 1hp more of power at the wheels. A ft-lb is a lot and TMSR2 gives 7ft-lb
more from 5000rpm right up until redline, by 3000rpm TMSR2 is allowing the
engine to produce over 30ft-lb extra (that's over 40nm of extra torque). Tomorrow we will release official photos of TMSR2 on 200THP but there are some already in the public domain from owners.

on 208 THP with fmic, 2" exhaust and gfb , average was 208.33hp at the wheels and 251 ft lb (STAGE 1)

The above mods +TMSR1 made average 218.15hp at the wheels and 274.95ft lb

The TMSR1 figures were still on a conservative mapping session

All figures were from 5 dyno runs on AMD rollers since they blind tested/remapped a car last year with a TMSR1 on it during our test and devlopment. They are a great team hence why we work closely with them.

TMSR2 has 27% more airflow than R1 :)

We also made 272ft lbs and 273ft lbs in Europe with R1, dyno, conservative mapping
