Hi im looking for some help or advice please, first i know very little about cars and would be really grateful for some advice,

So last 2 years ago my lil sister started uni to be a nurse and needed a car to get to school and bought a 1lt 208 2013, ( got the car on finance and still has around 2k to pay) a few weeks back the car would not start took to local man to fix and it showed an error code for injector 1, so he swapped it with another injector and the fault did not follow? So he concluded that the fault was with the ECU and he could not repair and to take to the dealership to repair, had the car lifted to the dealership and it took them a few weeks to determine that it was a faulty ecu and needs replaced, the dealership charged her £580 for the exploratory work to tell her that it was the ecu? And now want another £1800 to replace the ECU? She has paid the £580 but just cannot afford the £1800 for the ECU, the car is 2013 and only has 40k miles on it. Is it worth fixing or is there any cheeper way to replace a ecu? Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Ps we live in derry/londonderry and a good mechanic is just a thing of legend and very hard to find 😟
