Folding mirrors

Hello,

I am the proud owner of a 208 GTI and the last year having it has been a joy.

However, yesterday I returned to my car and found the driver side wing mirror failed to fold out when I opened the car.

I've tried adjusting it manually using the controls on the door but it hasn't seemed to work.

Is it possible to manually fold open the mirror and then override the automatic folding function? That would hopefully get me through the next day or so until I can get it fixed.

Manual control is available, though obviously it won't work if the motor is bust.

Put the slider switch to the middle position and press it forwards - or pull it back, I can't remember which way round it is.

Though if you really mean manually by yanking the unit itself, I've no idea!

Similar problem with my GTI. Auto folding mirrors are a pain in the long term.

I just yank it open last time it happened. I figured I am going to replace the mechanism inside anyway.

Mine is playing up at the minute (and has been for the past couple months). Have a couple weeks of warranty left so will get it sorted and see if it happens again.
